High ground clearance, with context.
190 mm is a useful starting filter — not a guarantee. Compare clearance with wheelbase, tyres, drivetrain and the roads you actually use.
More clearance helps — but it is only one dimension.
A 200 mm crossover can be easier to live with on rough streets than a low sedan, but two cars with the same clearance can behave very differently on steep ramps or broken roads. Wheelbase, approach/departure angles, tyre sidewall and drivetrain can change the real-world result.
Five different ways into 190 mm+.
These picks deliberately cover different budgets and powertrains. They are orientation points, not a universal ranking.

What to check beyond millimetres.
Ground clearance is easy to compare because it is one number. Real usability is not.
A long wheelbase can still scrape on sharp crests even when the quoted ground clearance looks healthy.
More sidewall can improve impact absorption and make rough-road driving less punishing than a large wheel with a thin tyre.
Clearance helps avoid contact; traction helps you keep moving. They solve different problems.
Check how the manufacturer defines the clearance figure and remember that passengers and luggage can change how the car sits.

Ground clearance in Nepal: FAQ.
How much ground clearance is enough for Nepal?
There is no universal number. Around 190–200 mm can provide useful extra margin for many mixed-road situations, while rougher routes, steep ramps and off-road use may benefit from more. Wheelbase, overhangs, tyre profile and suspension also matter.
Is 200 mm ground clearance good?
For many everyday SUVs and crossovers, 200 mm is a useful amount of clearance. It does not make a vehicle an off-roader by itself, but it can provide more confidence over broken surfaces and steep ramps.
Does higher ground clearance always mean a better car for Nepal?
No. Very high clearance can come with trade-offs in price, ride, handling, size or fuel use. The best fit depends on your roads, parking, family needs and whether you need AWD or 4WD.
Should I also look for AWD or 4WD?
If you regularly drive on loose, steep or difficult surfaces, drivetrain can matter as much as clearance. For normal city and highway use, high clearance with two-wheel drive may be sufficient.
How does NepalRoads decide which cars qualify?
A car qualifies when at least one structured current variant in the shared NepalRoads dataset records ground clearance of 190 mm or more. Exact clearance and equipment can vary by variant.
